Why We Use Webflow (And Sometimes Wix)
We’ve tested all the main website options, from Wix to Wordpress to raw code — and Webflow hits the sweet spot: fast, flexible, clean code, full control, and easy for clients to update.

There’s loads of ways to build a website, from drag-and-drop builders to full custom code. At Worksites, we’ve tested them and chosen Webflow as our go-to (and Wix sometimes too).
Wix: Quick But Constrained
Wix is a classic drag-and-drop builder. It’s easy to use, simple to set up, and works well if you just need something live fast.
Pros:
- Very beginner-friendly
- Easy for clients to update themselves
- Quick to launch
Cons:
- Limited creative freedom
- Can have bloated, junky code under the hood (bad for SEO)
- Can’t add custom features easily
- Sites can feel “template-y”
We’ll use Wix if speed and simplicity matter more than flexibility. It’s decent for basic sites, but if you want something that stands out, it can quickly hits its limits.
WordPress: Powerful, But Clunky
WordPress is the most-used platform in the world. It’s flexible, has loads of plugins, and powers everything from blogs to big eCommerce stores but it's decades old, and you can tell.
Pros:
- Very scalable
- Tons of plugins and templates
- Big support community
Cons:
- Can feel bloated or slow
- Plugins often break or clash
- Still pretty limited visually without a separate builder like Elementor or Divi
- Not as smooth for clients to edit
We rarely use WordPress unless a client specifically asks, it’s powerful, but not as modern or flexible as Webflow.
Raw Code: Ultimate Control, But Not Practical
Fully custom-coded websites give you total control. But they also take way longer to build, and once they’re live, updating them can be a nightmare unless you know your way around HTML, CSS, and JS.
Pros:
- Unlimited possibilities
- Super lightweight and fast
- Great for very specific or high-end use cases
Cons:
- Time-consuming to build
- Hard for clients to edit without dev support
- Expensive to maintain or update
Only worth it in rare cases when you need something totally unique and have the budget to match.
Why We Use Webflow
Webflow hits the sweet spot. It gives us the creative freedom of custom code, with the efficiency and ease of a visual builder.
Here’s why we use it:
- Clean, fast code that helps you rank on Google
- CMS so you can easily update blogs, portfolios, services etc.
- Visual editor for fast design & layout tweaks
- Webflow University – world-class free tutorials so clients are never lost
- Built-in hosting that’s reliable and fast
- Pixel-perfect design with full creative freedom
It’s the best of both worlds — your site looks custom, performs like a dream, and you can still make edits without calling a developer every five minutes.
